
The Mafia is the next most popular contribution of Italy to the American culture. The Mafia has put the class in gangs. Men in Italian suits go out there to extort
rich businesses, bribe dirty policemen and take a hold of the gambling business, and almost all other vices. The Mafia is feared because of their fearless killing of people who get in their way. They are ruthless and cautious in doing their deeds that they are seldom caught.
The most popular real life Mafia leader is
Al Capone. He was the main gang man in Chicago. He defied the rules and did numerous crimes. He was never convicted for any of his murders. Ironically, he was convicted of tax evasion and spent eleven years in jail. He died peacefully due to a cardiac arrest. Though he was ruthless, he was kind to the poor and even made the first soup kitchen in Chicago.
Mafia in the American culture is best depicted in the Godfather series. Among my
favorite Mafia movies are Scarface and Carlito's Way. Get a hold of copies of these and be mesmerized by the class and genius of the Mafia.
