No it's not Mario the plumber, from the Nintendo series of games. I'm referring to the man at the left: Leonardo da Vinci.
Leonardo da Vinci was born in Anchiano, near Vinci, Italy. He was the illegitamate son of a young notary, Ser Piero da Vinci, and a pesant girl, Caterina. Rising from his less-than humble roots, Leonardo would soon come to be known for his incredible talent and imagination, and notorious for his personal passions.
Arguably his most famous work is the Mona Lisa, a painting that remains an enigma to this day. But his genius was not limited to just art alone. His pioneering mind was one of the first to study anatomy, and his inquisitive nature often led him to design many inventions and mechanical curiosities.
His enduring fame is a testament to his greatness as a thinker.
