History of Italian Fashion

No doubt about it, fashion has been very important to the Italians. Its history can be traced back to the time of Count Giorgini. On February 25, 1951, he held his first fashion display for the foreigners visitors in Florence. During this time, the Italians have used their dresses as a way to communicate with other people. The reason for this was that their outfits could show if they were rich or poor.

With this in mind, Giorgini used his palace to hold events related to fashion. Usually, only people from the nobility were the ones that wore the stylish dresses. After all, they were the only ones that could afford them.

During the sixties, roles as well as status of the people changed. Fashion also took on a different role. Dresses became more creative and stylish. As such, new styles were developed and dresses became more affordable.

The peak of Italian fashion happened in the late 70s and early 80s. One reason for this is that Milan was transformed into a landmark of fashion. This was the place were trends such as jeans, mini skirts originated.
